As the tricolor unfurls across India this August 15th, we celebrate not only our nation’s hard-won freedom but also the enduring spirit of unity, resilience, and hope that binds us together. Independence Day is a moment to honor the sacrifices of those who fought for our liberty—but it’s also a time to reflect on the kind of India we wish to leave for future generations.

At DNECF (Dianalds New Era Care Foundation), we believe that true freedom includes the right to breathe clean air, drink pure water, and live in harmony with nature. And that freedom must be protected with the same passion and commitment that earned us our independence in 1947.

Linking Freedom to Sustainability

Our forefathers dreamed of a free India. Today, it is our turn to dream—and work—for an India free from the chains of pollution, climate change, and environmental degradation.

An independent nation must also be self-reliant in its natural wealth—its green cover, biodiversity, and sustainable resources. That’s why our efforts at DNECF are focused on restoring and preserving the environment, one home and rooftop at a time DNECF’s Independence Day Pledge – “Har Ghar Hariyali”

This year, we are calling on every citizen to join our two flagship green initiatives:

Ghar Ghar Podha – A Plant in Every Home

Just as the Tiranga flies proudly above our homes on Independence Day, let’s ensure a plant grows proudly within them. Through this initiative, DNECF distributes starter kits with air-purifying plants, vegetable seeds, and guidance—making it easy for families to bring greenery into their daily lives.

Kootukrishi – Rooftop Farming for a Resilient Future

Sponsoring NAAM Delhi, DNECF is transforming unused rooftops into productive green spaces. These rooftop farms don’t just produce food—they produce cleaner air, cooler buildings, and stronger communities. Our Founder and Director Lata Oommen has been personally leading installations and engaging with volunteers to make these green rooftops a reality.

Your Role in This Freedom Movement

As we celebrate the freedom earned 78 years ago, let’s take responsibility for the future we will pass on. Here’s how you can be part of this Green Freedom Movement:

  • Plant a tree or a sapling in your home or community.

  • Join or sponsor a rooftop farming project.

  • Reduce single-use plastics and conserve water.

  • Organize a neighborhood awareness drive on sustainable living.

Independence That Lasts Beyond a Day

The spirit of August 15th should not fade once the flags are folded away. True independence is sustained when our air is clean, our water is unpolluted, and our children can grow up surrounded by nature’s beauty rather than concrete alone.

At DNECF, we see every plant as a symbol of hope—each sapling a quiet act of defiance against pollution, climate change, and ecological loss. Through Ghar Ghar Podha and Kootukrishi, we are building an India where freedom also means environmental security.

Our Call to the Nation

As we raise the Tiranga this year, let’s also raise our commitment to a greener India. We urge every citizen to take one action—big or small—that contributes to the health of our planet. Whether it’s nurturing a single plant, supporting a community rooftop garden, or spreading awareness about sustainable living, every effort counts.

Our freedom fighters gave us the gift of an independent India. Let’s honor them by ensuring that the India we pass on is cleaner, greener, and more resilient than ever before.
